Buses

Buses are an excellent way to get to places not serviced by the MRT. Fares require exact change or payment by EZ-Link or Singapore Tourist Pass. LINK: Interactive route map

Changi Airport transport

Several airport options exist to get to and from Changi Airport depending on time available and budget. SBS bus 36 - links Orchard Road and Singapore Changi Airport. MRT - between City Hall station and Changi Airport station. Airport Shuttle Service - to and from most major hotels - book at arrival halls in Changi Airport. Taxis - approximately S$20 or slightly higher to the city centre - fares will vary depending on the time of day and any Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges.

EZ-Link

EZ-Link is a smart card that can be used for travel on Singapore's MRT and buses, as well as for payments at 7-Elevens, some retail and fast food outlets. As cards include a non-refundable $5 fee, it is best to stick to using cash (or consider the Singapore Tourist Pass) for the MRT and buses if staying for only a few days. LINK: EZ-Link info

Sentosa Express

Sentosa Express is a light rail system that links Sentosa Island with HarbourFront Centre (MRT station) and St James Power Station. There are four island stations - Sentosa Station, Waterfront Station, Imbiah Station and Beach Station. The service operates from 7am to midnight. Payment is by ez-link. LINK: Sentosa Express info

SIA Hop-on Bus

A hop-on hop-off service that goes to or near most attractions, hotels and shopping malls in the city as well as Sentosa. SIA Hop-on Bus stops are located at or close to Raffles Hotel, Singapore Flyer, Esplanade, Marina Bay area, Merlion Park, Boat Quay, Lau Pa Sat, Chinatown, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Orchard Road and Little India.

SMRT

SMRT or Mass Rapid Transit is Singapore's modern metro system. The network connects Singapore's eastern, western and northern areas to the city centre. The MRT is especially useful for getting to most places in the downtown core. Fares are paid by one-time travel or EZ-Link card. LINK: MRT network map

Taxis

Taxis are metered and can be hailed in most streets or from taxi stands. Taxis are relatively inexpensive, especially for groups of 2 or more. Passengers must pay all Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges and other surcharges. A S$3 surcharge applies to taxis originating from Changi Airport, other surcharges applied are for travel between midnight and 6am, and after 6pm on some public holidays.

Tourist Pass

Singapore Tourist Pass is an all-day travel pass for unlimited travel on public buses and the MRT. The passes are available for 1, 2 and 3 days, S$8/$16/$24 respectively. A S$10 deposit is required. Cards are available at Changi Airport Terminals, as well as Changi Airport, Orchard, Chinatown, Raffles Place, Bugis and HarbourFront MRT stations. LINK: pass information
